Yesterday, while working (I work from home), my area was experiencing frequent to excessive lightning, thunderstorms.
I requested permission to shut everything down and start working again after the storm goes away.
An hour later, everything calms down and I start working again.
Less than 30 minutes later, lighting stroke somewhere near the house and lights flickered and POOF!!! My work computer went down..
I would not turn on. Even after being unplugged for about an hour…
The only other choice I had was to use my laptop, but problem was that my PC has Vista.
I have this Tech from Desktop support, assisting me install the proper applications to Run on my Vista machine so I could continue working. He Remote connects and starts uploading the right applications for Vista.
All of the sudden he decides that it’s OK to download Spyware Doctor with Antivirus to my Computer.
When I asked why, he responds that he needs to for precaution.
I’m like, “I can assure you this PC has no infections at all and/or nothing malicious installed”
SO there he goes telling me about how 90% of all computers get infected in less than an hour after being connected to the internet and blah blah blah..and that he hears the same thing everyday, many times a day.
Indirectly telling me that I know nothing about computers and internet and security..
It amused me, so I let him do what he thinks he knows he is doing and in order to prove him wrong.
When he tried to install Spyware Doctor, the installation did not run.
He tried several methods to make it run and still wouldn’t install. After almost an hour, he forwards me to his Supervisor to take a look at my computer.
His Supervisor didn’t even try to install the Spyware doctor crap and decided to simply install the applications needed to work with Vista and everything worked fine.
So now, I knew exactly why Spyware Doctor was not installing. But I did not tell him. Simply because I hate the fact that there is always a KNOW-IT-ALL who thinks they fucking know everything and that gives them the right to look down on others.
